Well SNAP!
Every once in awhile, I come back from distant place where thinking is apparently not allowed and have a major "oh snap" moment! Today's oh snap moment would be when I realized that tomorrow is the 14th! The day I was to send out the first round of publishing queries, manuscripts and overall mail! However, because of the chaos lately, there is NO way that is going to happen! I have been so wrapped up in getting the car business finalized, planning a very special birthday, and getting ready for the wedding that is coming this weekend (in which I am a bridesmaid); that I forgot about my personal commitment! So, the new date will be announced tomorrow! I plan to go home and look at the status of everything and draw up a new plan!
Vroom vroom... BEEP BEEP! I got a new car!
As you may have guessed from the title, I am the proud new owner of my FIRST car! Something that has been a very exciting adventure, and, as we all know...adventures come with a great story! So here it is!
I have been looking for a car for awhile now. I started during my senior year but was never really serious about it. Then, my final year at Butler the urge and need to get one rose to a whole new height!
I have gone many times to look at cars... at little car shops, to big car dealerships... from new to old! I have looked at them all! But nothing ever seemed right and furthermore even if they came close to being what I wanted they were out of reach financially!
The closet I had gotten to getting a car was about a month ago! Long story short...don't buy cars from *$$%&*!$! It looked similar to a clown car anyways! Nevertheless, I had just about given up! But on the days that it was pouring down rain and I was walking (or riding) to work, or on the days that I hauled my huge basket of laundry approx. 2 or 3 blocks away to the laundry mat, and on the days I was completely out of groceries or needed something from Wal-mart...I realized that I really wanted a car so bad!
Then I got the call! A friend of my mothers (and practically every teacher in my old home-town), had a car (he owns his own small car place). My mother had asked him to keep his eye open for a car that would work for me, and he found one! That's when the not-so-fun parts started!
I have never bought a car before... nor do I really know that much about them! So everything was new to me. But I had lots of help...lots! The second day into the process, I was pretty much ready to say never mind, I like my bike! But I kept going!
After going over and over my budget, calling insurance companies and talking to Steve, the man who I bought my car from, a million times...we decided it was possible so I got in the car with my mom to go down to Ark City to see the car(there was no point in seeing it until I knew it was even a possibility)! The car ride down was a longgggggggggggg one! But when we pulled around the corner, and into the parking lot of the car place and the little 2005, silver, Dodge Neon was sitting there... it was SO worth it! I screamed... really and truly!
The first time I sat in the seat, I saw nothing but perfection and I was really excited! This was the car! I had even gone and looked at others, but THIS, this was it! I looked at the guy and he said "I know, I'm good!" Then it was time for the big question, "Are you sure this is the one you want?" I am pretty sure I looked at him like it was the silliest question alive! He laughed and said "OK then, let's go sign the paperwork!"
I literally was shaking as I signed the paperwork! I checked it over so many times I think I made him nervous! And I asked and re-asked questions! Making sure I asked all the thing that I had been told was a good idea to ask by my friends (mainly Brandy! lol! there's nothing like a big sis being there guide you)! Then he handed me the final, deal making paper! I took a breathe, looked out the window at the car, then signed my name, and looked back out the window at MY CAR!
Then we went outside, and he handed me the keys, and I got behind the steering wheel! I was supposed to follow him to the gas station because he wanted to be the one to buy my first tank of gas, and he wanted to teach me how to make sure the air was right in the tires and that I knew how to pump gas (which I did, by the way)! He got in his truck, and my mother started to go get in her car, but looked back at me! Then she started laughing! I was scared drive it! I had started it, and had my hands on the wheel, but I was so nervous! So she came over and got in the passengers seat, smiled, and I swallowed and made a little wish as I put it in gear! We were off!
After filling it up, and going through the things he wanted to make sure I was ok with, I shook his hand and got ready to head out! But before he left, he smiled and jokingly said " I have done all I can do know... fly robin fly!" We all laughed, and then I was free!
I find it ironic that the first place I went was Wal-Mart in my new car! But, I had to get a new key chain for my key (and a few other things)!
My niece and I named my car Tink (as in Tinkerbell)! Which I find appropriate in many ways! While at Wal-Mart, she and I picked out a little charm to hang from the mirror...it is Tink sitting on a heart! We hung it together, and we believe she is a good luck charm and is watching over all of the passengers!
This morning I drove my car for about 2 and a half hours on my ride home! I still love it! It does have a few kinks. Like the scratch on the interior on the passenger side, or the small stain on the seat, a small crack in the windshield fluid reservoir, and a little paint chip from the back (all of which people have pointed out to me)... BUT, I don't even care! It's beautiful to me! It's not brand new, but I didn't want (or could afford) a brand new car! Besides, this one is new...new to me! And it is my FIRST CAR EVER!
It has been pretty darn exciting, but the best is yet to come! It is amazing the freedom that comes along with a car! I didn't realize just how great it would feel, but there is no mistaking it now! It has been a great 24 hours and I am looking forward to the many adventure that are ahead for "Tink" and myself! Though I have to say, I am very excited for the chance to take my Big Sister and M. Bear on a ride! That will be fun (though I think they may be a little nervous!) ;0)
Back to work I must go, but I just wanted to give an update! My car is parked outside, which, reminds me! I need to go feed the meter again!

Thursday... aka.. MY FRIDAY!
Today has been calmer than yesterday... no twister's yet (knock on wood)! I have been working and running on the very minimum amount of sleep, but that is ok! It is a good day just the same!
The only stressful factor has been car shopping, which, I would very much prefer to be over! But, this is a learning experience, and in the end I hope to have a car! But, I am being very careful and making sure to check out everything before I jump into a deal!
In writing news, my writers block has officially vanished! I have been having an enormous amount of ideas popping into my brain lately! It is crazy what I can think of in an hour! I am being careful to write all ideas down and keep track, but so far nothing is completed! I am still working with publishing information, but plan to take it slow this weekend to have fun!
Work is going great, I am learning to work with course reserves which is the more difficult aspect of my job, but I am slowly picking it up!
Other than that, life is good! My mother made it into town safe and finally found a parking space! ;0) I am ready for a good weekend! Oh, and my main plan for this weekend is to continue the secret birthday plotting plans! Which, I might add, are coming along nicely! Though I must not say more than that. After all, it's secret!
Well, off I go, I need to finish a few things and get the library ready to close for the day! Until I write again...stay creative and out of trouble!

Had to Be There!
I know that I promised not one, but two posts...however, I have not had a chance today! Things have been hectic again and I am trying to get things completed before I head out for the weekend (yes, it is MY Friday)!
The first major issue would be that when the sun first peeked over the horizon this morning, I was awake! I could NOT sleep last night! I had to clean, and I wanted to complete some homework ahead of time so that I could enjoy the weekend while my mom was visiting, and then of course Kathy was there so we spent a large portion of time laughing so hard we were crying (literally)! I am afraid that the moments we experienced through the night cannot be properly expressed through writing as they were all very much "had to be there" moments! However, I'm going to try my best!
I had planned to go straight home yesterday after work to get ready for this weekend. However, the universe had different plans! I started the day by trying on almost every outfit I owned trying to find the "right" ensemble for work (for reasons that lead to yet another long story)! Then, after settling for one of the last things I threw on, I plastered my face with the usual makeup and threw my ruffled hair into a clip before rushing out the door; barely remembering to lock it!
Work was the same as usual until a few hours in! That is when the chaos began! We had a situation where a book went missing, which, to someone who doesn't work in a library, probably doesn't seem like such a big deal. However, this particular book had been returned because it had a hold placed on it. On of the students checked it in and placed it on the shelf, ready for the next patron. HOWEVER, 10-15 minutes later when he came back for it, it was gone! That was the start of a rather long and drawn out search for a book that we would later discover another student checked out! Bye the time we figured out the entire process, my co-worker and I were in tears we were laughing so hard! Unfortunately, most of the laugher was in the moment and cannot be captured here in this blog! But basically, it was just the tip of a days worth of franticness.
After this, I decided I would take my lunch break and headed out for an hour. I made it to the little diner only after spending 20 minutes in a little bakery shop I discovered and purchasing a ladybug cake pan (I couldn't leave without it)! While eating, an "urgent news break" came over the radio. An escaped convict had been spotted in Emporia! The excitement continued; and I hurried back to work!
On the way back to work, I twisted my ankle and cut it open along the edge of my shoe (don't ask me how I managed that)! So, I hobbled 1/3 of the way there and had blood all over the back of my white shoe! But I made it!
While I was trying to get myself situated with the first aide kit, a patron who, likes to cause trouble, to say the least, decided to make this day the day he would be a problem. That alone took 10 minutes and an extreme amount of patients to handle!
Then, two of my co-workers headed home and I thought (<<
After releasing all of our patrons, we aimed for a calmer evening.... but everyone was on their toes for the remainder of the evening!
After work, Kathy decided she was coming over (which was fine with me, I love the company)! We ran by the grocery store because it was close, but then decided we needed to go to Wal-Mart. One hour later we left with the toilet paper we needed and about other things we decided we "needed!"
It took awhile to clean, but then I started making the cake! If you didn't know, I love making cakes! This is the one thing I can cook, and furthermore, love to make! I especially love decorating. However, this does not change the fact that I am a klutz! After making the frosting recipe two times, I began to decorate the cake, however, in the end, it was myself that was decorated when the frosting bag exploded! Pink frosting covered my face, and giggles filled the room! However, I eventually was able to complete the task! BUT, in the process I ate half the frosting that I made, and.... that may have been why I was so wide awake!
Overall, the night was great! It was a fun way to end such a crazy and stressful day! Or more appropriately, a "sweet" way to end the day!
So that was Wednesday! It seems rather dull in writing, but, as I pointed out, you really just had to be there!

Hi all! It's Thursday!
I am planning on putting a blog on here for yesterday because it truly was a "blog-able" day! (Yes I made that word up but I can do that! It's MY blog)! I will be putting up yesterday's and today's blog later today! I need a chance to write it!
My mother is coming to visit and will be here later today! That is exciting! And I made a cake last night that looks like a ladybug (pictures to come soon) just for fun! I may not be able to cook the best food, but when if comes to cakes and cookies I am awesome! The cake turned out great!
Anyways, I have to get back to work, but look for the two new blogs later this evening!
Creatively as always,
Kat
