NaNoWriMo! Translation...National Novel Writing Month... or... I've Lost My Mind!

My friend introduced me to something I am very exciting to be participating in this year! It is known as the National Novel Writing Month and it goes from the 1st-30th. But what is it you may ask? It is a program through which you pledge to write a novel, of 50,000 words, in one month! It has to be submitted by midnight on the 30th in order for it to count!
So far, I have 9, 711 words! No where near enough! Yet I am loving the experience so far! I will write more later when I have a few more extra moments, but until then, feel free to check out my tracking page and learn a little more about it yourself!

Presenting to you...President Obama!

As I write this, television stations everywhere are declaring the new President Barack Obama! A historical announcement that all will remember for years to come! While things are not final, nor official.... this election has come to an end. McCain is currently speaking to the nation, thanking them for their support. He claims to have already called and congratulated Obama. The polls, currently are 338/156. But the quote that McCain has just made, stands clear regardless of the results. "Americans never quit." A statement that is very true.

We have to stand together, regardless of what our individual choices for president were. We have to work together, to bring our nation out from the mess she has fallen under during the course of last 8 years. We have all gone out and rocked the vote, and now, it's time to rock the world. Obama claims he will bring the change.... now he must prove that he can do it. But this is not up to only him. We all hold responsibility in our own ways for this nation. Together, we can build ourselves back up. This is not an ending, it is a beginning! There is so much to come....so much work ahead of us all.

Personally, I am ecstatic to have been a part of this election....ecstatic to have been able to be alive to witness history. This election was truly amazing... in so many aspects; and on that note.... I am going to go watch the new President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, make his first speech ever!

History in the Making

Regardless of which state you reside in, what age you are, what race or sex, or religious practice you follow..... if you live in the United States of America; the following 24 hours will change your life. As I write this, millions of Americans are standing in line, waiting for a the chance to make the choice they have debated endlessly for the last few months. Teens are practicing their right to "rock the vote," making choices that could be the biggest they have made so far. It is the Presidential Election of 2008, and it is one that will go down in history.

I will be spending the evening at the Emporia Court House to watch it all unfold. Personally, I have already voted. An experience that was amazing in itself! Tonight I will be helping my friend cover the story for the newspaper, taking photos, and hopefully (if I have Internet) writing of my experiences here; and of course, I will come here and post as soon as I know who will be our new president.

This year every vote, every voice counts in a phenomenal way! We have seen the comedians compare the candidates, make fun of their weaknesses and push out their strengths. We have heard the talk show hosts analyze each candidate from point A to Z; and the rock stars sing about who they endorse. No matter where you turn, you will hear about the election. But what is important right now? YOU! Get off of the computer, out of your chair, and out of your apartment! If your old enough, GO VOTE! If your too young, make sure those in your life that can vote, have! It's no longer up to the famous, or those who have access to the mass media. The final decision rests in your hands. You have the right, you have life, and you have the voice. So go vote...let's make history together. Meet you at the polls!

Life at Random

I think I just had the best weekend I have had in a long time! Halloween was amazing, in so many ways. I had fun, hung out with friends, and even carved a pumpkin which I haven't done in a really reallyyyy long time! It was just a great evening....

Then Saturday, I spent the morning helping out my sister clean out her stoarage, which was a lot of work, but so much fun! We had a chance to talk and just be dorks and I learned a lot about her... I think we needed that. To top it off...we got a few hilarious pics that will make great black-mail years from now!

Saturday night I went to Topeka with my second family. We had a blast going to dinner, then to the Mind, Body, and Spirit Health Fair (think that's the proper name of it), where they have the coolest thing. Psychics, healers, and an amzing amount of items that vary from fairy related decorations, to crystals, and...well...just everything! It was amazing and fun! I bought a hand-crafted mini-tree made from wire and stone. It is beautiful and I will post pictures later! I also bought a few little stones...what can I say... I cannot resisit shiny!

Sunday I work... but I got to catch up on my sleep this morning...which was good since Thursday night I only got a few hours, (3 I think), and then Friday, I was up late and then even after I layed down I couldn't sleep! So I got about 2 hours I think! So to sleep in this morning was great!

Summarizing, the weekend was just great! I was happy, the weather was nice, and I got to spend some time with the people who make me smile! What could be better!

Now in the way of writing... I actually have taken on a new adventure! A friend told me about National Novel Writing Month and how there is a special event once a year! It a contest of sorts... and in order to complete it you have to write a novel, 50,000 words in length, in a month! Each person participating has their own little profile, with a word count update, etc. It is really rather cool! I am excited to be starting, though I have no clue what to write yet! However, I am thinking either murder mystery or a kidnapping excitement! I am not sure.... but as soon as I do, I'll let ya'll know! It should be fun, and a challenge!

Well, I must return to work, but I wanted to post an update about life in random! But hey, when isn't it random!
